i am. flattered
when someone slides into my dms. i never know whether they’re going to ask me about my inspiration to write a post or where i got my delicious jackfruit taco. every now and then, i get someone shooting his shot. we all know it goes down in the dms (thanks to Yo Gotti), but what several people often forget is that sliding into the dms is a tactful endeavor.
Before writing the dm-
- DO it. dont be shy because what’s the worst that can happen?
- DO NOT be on private!! we want to stalk you (instagram is very superficial, as we all know)
- DO be realistic. i wouldn’t advise dming Kendall Jenner. she wont respond.
Now, we get to the hard part. writing the message - DO find something specific about her. where she went to lunch yesterday or if she has an extra toe. find commonalities.
- DO send a picture that you like from her page, or respond to her stories and tell her what you like about it.
- DO something funny! cheesy pickup lines can sometimes be the best way to go.
- DO compliment personality or intelligence instead of looks. if you do want to compliment looks try using words like “beautiful,” “pretty,” or “cute” instead of “hot” or “sexy.” 5. DO be genuine. if you dont usually slide into the dms, tell her! if you are a shy person, let her know. be you!
- DO NOT SLIDE INTO DMS IF YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND (especially if she is in your bio)!! 7. DO NOT be too personal. most won’t want to talk about your brother’s cousin’s stepsister’s boyfriend’s uncle’s cat.
- DO NOT make the person you’re dming do the work. dont send a message saying “snap me.” 9. DO NOT use dead end texts. try to write something that will continue a conversation.
- DO NOT hit up 3 girls that are friends. they’ll know faster than you can imagine.
- DO NOT call her bae or dear. i’m not your bae and you’re not my grandma.
- DO NOT send nudes. no one wants that. dont even think about it.
- DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use any of these emojis when sending your dm 🍆🍑🍌🌭🥜💦 after you’ve sent your dm, you are left to wait. dont forget that people get busy. so shoot your shot, i hope you splash that 3 pointer.
