i am. sure
lets take a quiz!
answer these, please? do you: tan, have a mole, love your dog, have a wide nose, cry at funerals, run, believe in heaven, play video games, wear baseball hats, have skinny calves, watch Netflix, have green eyes, or use instagram?
if you answered yes to any of these, then answer one final question.
would you like others to judge you (i mean really treat you differently) based on your answers? i am sure, positive even, that none of you would.
yet we (yes, me too) judge on superficial qualities every day. ridiculous, huh? we all need to do better.
in significantly less time than it took you to answer these questions, you could have stopped to think about how the person you’re judging is not necessarily the stereotype. oh, and btw, just because we’re part of a minority doesn’t mean we somehow get a pass.
stereotypes aren’t necessarily bad. they become a problem when a negative stereotype is the only information you use to judge someone.
