by choices, that is. our generation has been told that we can do and have whatever we want. from jeans to jobs and dating partners to the coffee we drink, the possibilities seem endless. take me, for example. i’m the girl who spends 10 minutes staring at the coffee menu before ordering, because there are so many options (& of course i want to try them all). i know i’m not alone in this. we struggle to settle on coffee drinks like we struggle to settle on relationships. i mean, we’re constantly presented with new ways to get caffeinated (& technology has opened up a whole new world of dating options). some of the choices are tried and true, like black coffee or the boy next door, while others are a little more snazzy, like salted caramel lattes or the mysterious stranger at the gym. weighing each option, with all of its beautiful possibilities, leaves us reeling and feeling, well, a little jittery.
are we bombarded with too many choices that we can no longer make up our minds? and, if we do, will we always have that nagging feeling that we could have had better? i mean, if we’re terrified that ordering the iced caramel macchiato means giving up the potentially better mocha latte, will we ever be satisfied?
perhaps, instead of wondering if the coffee is stronger in the other cup, we should ask ourselves if the one we’ve chosen makes us happy.
