my high school homecoming was this weekend & it got me thinking back to the good ole’ days. i went through my #tbt pics and…. cringe. they brought back so many memories of the things that we used to do and say. remember bomb.com, stunt, fierce, and swaggy? and how many of you went through the phase of dip dying your hair with kool aid or rocking the feather extension? i was totally the kid who religiously watched Zoey 101, spent hours on ask.fm, and shamelessly kik’d my friends saying “yolo” as if it were a legitimate excuse to wear a flannel on any other day than friday. i traded silly bands before they were banned from elementary school, had way too many smencils with the squishys on top & made friendship bracelets for anyone and everyone. oh, and, of course, i would throw up a peace sign to all of my homies in the hallway, while making every effort to rock my osiris’ and justice tank top under my tshirt just to get a boy to post that #wcw pic of me on instagram.
yes, i think we have all experienced at least one cringy similarity, but the worst/best part about it is that i still do a lot of this stuff today. yo & a peace sign are my favorite ways to greet my GSIs & i’m rightfully still judged for my use of yolo and coolio. if Zoey 101 were still on today, you bet i would waste hours watching it and, trust me, i still wanna be your #wcw! i guess all im saying is that i am still the same old cringy version of myself & i’m hoping that embracing it is the new dope thing. an odd way to flex, im aware, but my h8rz are my motiv8rz so i’m gonna try stuntin on those hoez!
ps. peep the duck lips (;
