i am. challenging society’s norms

sure, they’re made for a reason. they keep order & blah blah blah. but there are some that are absurd and do not deserve to be followed. i mean, we blindly follow them, but how often do we stop to really think about what we’re doing? like what is the purpose of deferring to people with money? i get that they have access to resources & stuff. so what? have you ever really looked at someone who is genuinely happy (i mean, that is what most of us strive for, right?) they aren’t necessarily the richest, yet they could be. they aren’t necessarily the most beautiful, still they could be.

i say we defer to these people. learn from these people. strive to think like these people. because THEY have the answer. THEY deserve our respect. THEY are the ones who will look back on their life and say “i had it all.”

the beautiful thing about these people is that they don’t have or need to flaunt how great they have it. i know i see a lot more people posting on social media about their new car or gucci belt, but happy people just are. the best thing about happiness is that it doesn’t discriminate. it is a gift that is available to all people, rich or poor, beautiful or beauty challenged. now, isn’t that a better norm: to look up to those who are happy?

side note: i have major respect for people who have worked hard and earned good money. i just think we place too much emphasis on this
