being able to attend a performance by Hubbard Street Dance this weekend reminded me of how much i appreciate a good, honest piece of art. & by this i dont just mean a Picasso masterpiece or a fluid verse by J Cole (although they’re pretty darn great). i’m talking about every day kind of things. the art of photographing moments as they really are. the art of feeling free enough to sing at the top of your lungs. the art of carving a pumpkin. & even the art of falling in love.
to me, art doesnt have to be widely accepted or appreciated. as long as you are expressing true emotion or desire, that is art. it’s this type of art that you can’t help but fall in love with. as long as you really pour yourself into it, others cant help but at least admire it. so go out there and be true to you. the world could use more honesty. more art.
whether you touch a few or touch many, your art will be appreciated (even if it’s just by you)
