i am. failing

& i like it. over the past few years, i have grown a pair (quite a sizable pair, i might add). okay, maybe i’m not jumping out of airplanes or dropping out of school to travel using only my limited bank account (not yet, anyway), but i have taken quite a few risks. & to be completely honest with you, a good number of them have ended in failure. but that’s ok! wanna know why? because i got an experience out of it.

here are some of my recent failures.
-i took a last minute, unplanned trip to nashville. fabulous, spontaneous idea, right? not when you’re under 21. prolly should have thought that a bar-centered city might want id!
-i offered free social media marketing to a small mom and pop shop (to gain experience). little did i know that they had other ideas in mind. wanna be part of the ‘pyramid’ scheme i was duped into joining?
-i choreographed my first (and likely only) piece for @cadencedanceco ok, so maybe this one wasn’t a fail because the dancers made it look fab, but i do think that next time i’ll leave it to the pros.
-i swallowed my pride and tried to rekindle some friendships with people that just weren’t havin it.
-i dropped everything for a last minute audition for a commercial in chicago that didn’t pan out.

although i just listed a few L’s, i continue to take these dumb risks. why, you may ask? because i am no worse off than i was before i risked it for the biscuit. if anything, i’m better off. now i can say that i have checked all of those things off my bucket list! & think, if no one took a risk, we would live in a world without some of our favorite singers, artists, and innovators! where would we be without people like gaga, banksy, and tesla?

& let’s be honest, what is the worst that can REALLY happen from taking a risk? you get a bruised ego? get laughed at? find out that you aren’t as clever as you thought? so what? instead of thinking about the few negatives, consider all of the amazing things that could come of it. starting this blog was a risk for me & it has completely changed my life in such an amazing way. my mom always told me to “do one thing every day that scares you,” and now im passing that challenge on to you.
