there have got to be people out there who hate making plans as much as i do. & i feel like whatever plans i do make sound great at the time, but not necessarily so much when the time comes to actually do them. that’s why i’m so here for spontaneity.
impromptu games of euchre or last minute get togethers always seem to be the most fun. just the other night i was sitting at home in my pjs when my phone lit up with a text saying “pregame at 9.” with zero intention of actually going out, i still got my lazy butt off the couch, threw on some leggings, and went. let’s just say it was one of the most fun nights i’ve had in a while.
spontaneous events may seem like more fun because, well, they’re spontaneous. & you are either up for them (and do them) or opt out. they’re also free of expectations. it’s kinda like, “i’m not doing anything, so this will be better than nothing.” & they do seem to be better than planned stuff (like nye when we expect it to be so hype, but it often falls short). i’m not sure how realistic it is to do everything spontaneously, without ever making any plans. but maybe we can learn from them. plan to do stuff, but don’t build it up – if you keep your expectations realistic, you’ll likely be surprised!
