i am. starting a conversation

clearly, i love social media, but it appears to be making us more and more polarized and unwilling to listen to the other’s perspective, or just not see it at all. a friend of mine (liberal) wanted to get others’ views on various topics so she would match with who she believed to be conservative boys on tinder to hear their opinions. not all of us necessarily want to seek out contrasting opinions, though, so i’ll bring them to you.

with issues like abortion and climate crisis hot on people’s mind, i want to know what you think. each sunday, i’ll post a topic, and we can discuss. i’ll tell you my take on it, and you tell me why you agree or think otherwise. i promise to respect your view and try to understand. the only rules are that you have to:
-be respectful
-avoid personal insults
-at least consider the other point of view

let’s start with abortion.

so, i’m morally against abortion, but i’m politically pro choice. i do not believe that anyone should be able to choose what i can and can’t do with MY body. i also question if it’s even constitutional. i think the results will be kinda like prohibition. people are still going to do it, but in more dangerous ways. also, shouldn’t laws reflect the will of the people? one statistic showed that only 14% of Americans believe that abortion should be illegal in all cases and the majority (60%) think it should be legal.

now, i want your view. lets learn to respectfully hear each other out. no issue is black and white. by listening and challenging our own views we can learn and, hopefully, come together.

“united we stand, divided we fall.”
