so this week’s hot topic is climate crisis!! yay!
i actually feel pretty educated on this topic because my brother is a die hard “the sky is falling, the entire human race is at risk for extinction within the next 10 years” kind of person. so obviously, i believe that climate change is a thing, just like every environmental scientist out there. but the big debate isn’t whether or not it’s a crisis, it’s how do we deal with our heating planet. there is no planet b!!
the problems that have arose from our neglect are clearly shown in pictures of the garbage patch in the ocean and in the animals struggling for survival. i mean, #savethebees right? if they go extinct we will lose all of our fruit, chocolate, coffee, ect. & that is something i cannot get behind.
i’d like to see a little more government involvement & significantly stricter regulations, but i’m not gunna pretend that the US does anything quickly. the green new deal is really out here starting a conversation & i’m here for it, but we need to act quick, before the experts get to say “i told you so.”
i am very mindful of my actions, but i am nowhere near perfect. the first step is acknowledging that if we all made small changes, the result could be significant. whatcha think?
1.use reusable products- ps. starbucks gives you a discount if you bring in your own cup & they aren’t the only ones!!
2.eat less meat- no, this doesnt say go vegan (even though thats great, too). animal agriculture is the top contributor to climate change, so maybe consider some chicken instead of a double bacon burger next time.
3.buy less stuff- how many times have you bought something & only used it once? if youre a fashionista, check out Rent the Runway to rent more, buy less.
4.on this note, buy less groceries- roughly 1/3 of the food produced in the world goes to waste. we can keep money in our pocket if we only buy food we need, not simply to fill up our fridge.
so ya, clearly there are ways that you can be more environmentally friendly without really noticing it.
if you have any different opinions or other tips, leave them below. lemme hear what ya think!
