i am. reminiscing

last night i lit a candle, queued an indie pop playlist, and read through old cards that have been sent to me & my old journal entries. i thought id share one.

i live a very blessed life. not because of the safe neighborhood i grew up in. or the supportive mother i was given. not the newest technology that was gifted to me or the fridge that was always stocked. not the perks from my instagram. not the ability to wiggle my toes. not the chirping of birds singing in tune to the words i read from a book. it isn’t the prestigious university i somehow managed to get in to. or the sun shining on my skin on a summer day. not the ability to travel or the knick -knacks i’ve accumulated along the way. it isn’t even the sparkle of the dew on leaves or the wind blowing through my hair. not the sound of music or my cats purr. so soft and gentle.

sure, all of these things make my life great. but what really makes my life blessed is the feelings i get from these things.

the wind makes me feel free. the birds chirping relieved my stress. uofm gives me butterflies thinking about it. the sun kissing my skin makes me glow. the words on a page encourage imagination. my blog allows me to change. the knick-knacks allow me to reminisce. music can make me cry. & the love from my mom fills every cell of my body with uncontainable joy.

my life isn’t blessed because of what was given to me, but because of what i’ve created from those things. the feelings i’ve obtained and the appreciate i have learned.

with regards to wealth, there are lots of people with less & many with more. yet, when looking at overall life value, i believe that me and others who have the same appreciation for life have the MOST.
